New Vredesplein completed: “Seating and greenery in the shade of the Vredesbrug”

The new Vredesplein, located in the shadow of the Vredesbrug in Willebroek, has been completed. The untidy car park on the corner of Fabriekstraat and Mechelsesteenweg has now been transformed into a neat public space with greenery and seating benches.

Vredesplein is part of the new-build project Kanaelzicht by property developer Odebrecht, which also gave the surrounding area a makeover.
“We are creating a mix of apartments, commercial spaces and offices here. Naturally, this also requires high-quality outdoor space, and we tried to ensure that the new square blends seamlessly with our development,” says Stefan Franck of Odebrecht. “We hope the square will quickly develop into a lively meeting place.”

The first phase of the Kanaelzicht residential project, located directly next to the new Vredesplein, has already been completed. Works on the second phase in Fabriekstraat are currently in full swing. In a third phase, the historic buildings along the canal will also be upgraded.
