Odebrecht becomes Straco Real Estate: A strategic merger of project development and real estate investments in Belgium
The project developer Odebrecht will henceforth operate under the name Straco Real Estate.
Odebrecht has been active as a developer since 1983 and has built up a strong track record over the years. Within the real estate sector, Odebrecht was often mentioned in the same breath as Straco, as it functioned as the development arm of the solid holding company.
This strategic repositioning highlights a further integration of project development and real estate investments in Belgium. With this name change, Straco Real Estate is preparing for the future. With more than 300,000 m² currently in development and a robust investment portfolio in Belgium, the company positions itself as a leading real estate player.
Through this further integration, Straco’s existing real estate portfolio is now grouped together with the development activities under one strong and unified name. This also underscores Straco Real Estate’s intention to continue focusing on residential projects and value-add investments, leveraging the synergy between its development and investment teams to create additional value.
The recent partnership with DWNTWN for inner-city mixed-use projects with a focus on offices—most notably the acquisition of the Fedimmo portfolio in early 2023—further reinforces this strategy.
The transition to Straco Real Estate was the logical choice to reinforce the strong and solid foundation of our group. Moreover, we are at a favourable point in our growth trajectory to shift into the next phase and move to a higher level.
It is emphasised that this is purely a name change and, as such, has no impact on day-to-day operations, nor on existing clients, suppliers or other stakeholders.
